Shanzu Resident Magistrate Has Given Police 12 Hours To Charge Or Set Free Punjani’s wife

A Mombasa high court has ordered Police in Mombasa to open charges against five individuals arrested at the home of wanted Mombasa tycoon Ali Punjani before today, Thursday 4 pm

The five including Ali Punjani’s wife who appeared before Shanzu Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo on Tuesday but did not take plea as there were no charges prepared by the police.

This ruling comes at a time when the Prosecution, DCI, had requested for seven days to conclude investigations.

Two of the arrested persons, foreigners from Nepal and India, are employees at the palatial home who are said to have given false information when police raided the house on Monday evening.

The three were arrested are in custody over drug trafficking allegations. According to Mombasa Police Commander Johnstone Ipara, the raid at Punjani’s palatial home was in search for drugs.
