Shocking amount Babu Owino paid in DJ Evolve’s hospital bill

Shocking amount Babu Owino paid in DJ Evolve’s hospital bill

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has allayed claims that he abrogated a responsibility he took to clear the medical bill of Felix Orinda alias DJ Evolve.

Babu who is facing charges of shooting the youthful DJ at a high-end city club said he settled the medical bill to a tune of KSh 17 million.

The lawmaker said he was disturbed by the misleading information being spread on social media by people who were not privy to the matter.

“I sorted his (DJ Evolve) bill of KSh 17 million and that is why the hospital allowed him to be discharged, he won’t have been discharged without the bill being sorted,” Babu said.

The city DJ has been in hospital since January 6, 2020, when the incident happened.

When he was discharged on Thursday, June 18, emotions ran high on social media with a section of netizens raising concerns over the health of the DJ.

He appeared exhausted and was unable to walk by himself and was put in an ambulance while resting flat on an adjustable bed.

Babu, however, said the patient was discharged by doctors after ascertaining that he was in a stable condition and that he could be managed from home.

“I have heard people raise concerns about the condition of the patient and I want to tell you DJ Evolve was discharged by doctors on account that his condition had improved and could be managed from home,” he said.

Earlier, the lawmaker indicated he had cleared the accrued medical bill but Evolve’s father refuted the claims, insisting the bill was still pending.

In March, Babu got a lifeline after the High Court quashed the order by the Magistrates Court to compel him to pay Evolve’s hospital bill.

The court also reduced his cash bail from KSh 10 million to KSh 5 million.

Despite the ruling, Babu said he opted to continue offsetting the bill

In April 2020, the youthful politician said Evolve had been discharged but was not able to go home immediately due to the impact of COVID-19 in the country.

Babu has remained cautious when discussing issues surrounding the shooting and has on several occasions asked people to leave the matter between him and God.
