Sifuna rants over Chebukati’s demand letter to Raila

Outspoken Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said that nothing concrete will come from the legal venture of lawyer Steve Ogolla representing former IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati against Opposition Chief Raila Odinga.

Sifuna took to Twitter on Wednesday where he wrote that Ogaolla will only pocket hefty legal fees but not save Chebukati from Odinga’s onslaught.

The Nairobi senator who doubles as ODM secretary was ranting after city lawyer Steve Ogolla issued a demand letter to Mzee Odinga instructing him to release the video footage of the former chairman’s visit to his home within seven days.

Ogolla threatened to sue the ODM leader on behalf of Chebukati, over statement he made during the Sunday Jacaranda rally where he claimed that former IEBC chairman and former Commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu visited his home before declaring the 2022 presidential results.

Odinga insinuated that the commissioners asked him for a bribe and that he has proof of it. But Chebukati has denied the claims by the opposition leader who was beaten by President William Ruto in last year’s general elections.

“In the circumstances of your allegations, and in the context of our client’s strong rebuttal thereto, our instructions are to demand from you, as of right, which we hereby do, to be furnished with the alleged video footage within seven days from the date hereof,” the letter reads.

Incase the seven-day period is given to the ODM leader to provide the video footage lapses without him doing so, lawyer Ogolla will go ahead and to take legal actions against him.
