Silverstone Airlines has defended itself over claims of endangering passengers’ lives in the wake of accidents involving its aircraft in the month of October.

The airline explained on Tuesday reasons why it has recently experienced the hitches in its operation with the recent one occurring on Monday where one of the wheels on its planes came off.

Regarding the Monday 28 accident, Silverstone said it was not an emergency landing as reported by the media because “an emergency landing occurs when the pilot declares an emergency”

It said that after the incident, all its entire fleet was inspected to ensure all-wheel assemblies are in satisfactory condition.

“In accordance with Aircraft Maintenance Manual, the aircraft was inspected, certified and released back to the service”.

Regarding the 27th October incident at Wilson Airport in which its aircraft Fokker 50 bumped into another plane, the Airline faulted congestion.

“Wilson Airport is congested with active and disabled aircraft. This accident was reported to the relevant authorities and our insurers are in contact with the insurers of the affected airline”

Concerning the Friday, October 11 accident in which one of its planes skidded off a runway at Wilson Airport, the airline has said that relevant authorities launched investigations and they are yet to receive feedback on the incident.
