In Baringo, the Foundation invested Ksh 40 million into Sirwa Primary School for the construction of a science lab, ECDE classrooms, a hall that can host 400 learners, improved classroom blocks, and a staff building.

At Rift Valley Innovation Centre, Ksh 50 million was set aside to build a girls’ dormitory and install key systems that support both power and water.

A rainwater harvesting setup will help maintain a regular supply for the school.

Joseph Ogutu, Safaricom Foundation Chair, said the group is working with local bodies such as the Ministry of Education to fix up schools around the country, with a sharp eye on those that need the most help.

In Bomet County, Kimawit Primary School will get a Ksh 40 million uplift.

The money will go into building and setting up an ICT room, a science lab, bathrooms for both boys and girls, and a hall that can seat 200.

The Foundation has completed similar work in other areas such as Homa Bay, Meru, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Bungoma, Lamu, Siaya, Migori, and Vihiga.

These projects form part of a broad mission to make learning easier and more accessible for learners around Kenya.
