INJUSTICE: An Indian Employer Gives Ksh. 3,000 As Compensation To The Family Of A 26 Year Old Man Who Died While Working For Him.

A family in Nairobi’s Westlands area is appealing for justice after their son died while working for his employer in Westlands.

Twenty six year old Vitalis Igunza allegedly fell off from a tree about three weeks ago while working for his employer who is of Indian origin.

“He fell off from a tree while working for his employer, we were then called, the police came, the Muindi recorded a statement and even promised to pay for the funeral expenses,” narrates Wakareto.

His brother Richard Wakareto says after their brother’s death, the employer only gave them 3000 before going silent on them.

“Unfortunately, the Muindi has only given Ksh. 3,000 and refused to engage us further. Our funeral expenses are amounting to over Ksh. 100,000 because transport alone to western Kenya is Ksh. 70,000,” said Wakareto.

Wakareto says that the man has refused to even help in paying for funeral expenses leave alone compensate them for the death of their brother.

They are now appealing for help from relevant authorities to help them pursue compensation from the employer following their brother’s death.
