Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Tuesday, December 22, poked holes at reports indicating that Machakos senator Boniface Kabaka died after taking unprescribed medication.
Speaking during his burial, Sonko stated that there was a lot of propaganda following Kabaka’s death, from members of the fourth of estate and netizens, adding that the alleged medication did not cause the the Senator’s death.
“This is not the first time that something of this sort is happening. We have lost 3 Senators in such atrocious ways; Otieno Kajwang’, Mutula Kilonzo and now Kabaka.”
“Before his death, Kabaka was vocal about a piece of land that some individuals wanted to grab land…We know what you did and I want to tell other leaders that if they continue to keep silent about such matters, they will be next,” Sonko claimed.
The former Nairobi County boss cited that fresh investigations needed to be conducted, announcing that he would pay for the lawyer that would represent Kabaka’s family.
“The deceased did not die from what he is being accused of,” Sonko stated.
Sonko affirmed that the damning allegations were not as a result of anger from his impeachment that took place last week.
“There is life after politics, and all I want is for the truth to be known by everyone and fresh investigations conducted,” Sonko said as he advised senators not to fear telling the truth.
Additionally, the governor told Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to be wary of his close associates, saying that they only wanted to use him to pass the referendum and later abandon him
“They only want to use you and abandon you. I have prove and I will look for you later and share it,” Sonko told the Wiper leader.
