Africa 100 metre record holder Ferdinand Omanyala has landed a new gig a few months after losing sponsorship with some important brands.

Phone company OPPO, has named him as their latest ambassador.

The company says, Omanyala joins the company’s O-stars team including Pascal Tokodi, Avril Nyambura, Lulu Hassan and Jalang’o.

Omanyala, who clocked 9.77 seconds at the Kip Keino Classic Tour in September and setting the African record will spearhead the ‘Embrace Speed’ campaign.

In September 2021, Omanyala was dropped by DBA Sports.

“DBA Africa ceases the association with Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala. We are proud to have played a huge role in enabling him to compete around the continent resulting in attaining 4 qualifying times for the Tokyo Olympic Games and achieving many National Records and Personal Bests,” the firm wrote in September.

The ‘Embrace Speed’ campaign aims to promote the company’s latest flagship for the Kenyan market, the OPPO Reno6 5G which can charge from 0-100% in just 28 minutes. The Reno6 5G has recently bagged the titled of the best battery on a phone, worldwide, thanks to DXOMark’s ratings.

The fast charging capabilities of the phone are thanks to the 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charging technology. The phone comes with a 4300mAh battery which as you’ll see in our review enables all-day use, even when battery is low.
