Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has accused Sarah Wairimu, the widow of slain Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen, of trying to interfere with her husband’s murder case.
Kinoti made the claims in his response to the contempt of court case filed against him by Wairimu, who was charged with the murder of Cohen.
In her case, Wairimu accuses Kinoti of disobeying court orders issued on September 16th barring him and the prosecution from addressing the press on the investigations and evidence in the murder of the businessman.
Through her attorney Phillip Murgor, Wairimu claims that DCI Kinoti defied the court orders by inferring her guilt.
In his response, Kinoti says that the accused person and her lawyer are engaging in a calculated move aimed at interfering with investigations and the trial process.
“The application is a deliberate and contrived scheme by the applicant and her lawyer to prematurely argue her innocence,” argues Kinoti.
“The application is a blatant abuse of advocate/client privilege with the advocate using the application to channel his long-standing angst and malevolence against the DPP and DCI,” he adds.
Kinoti urged the court to take judicial notice that Wairimu and her lawyer Murgor have since before and after her arrest been on every media, including YouTube, giving a different narrative of the material circumstances of the case.
“If anyone is in contempt of the court it is the duo,” Kinoti states.
He further insists that he is entitled in law to issue public statements in regard to investigations and subsequent charges of any crime.
“It is the duty of Law Enforcers Worldwide to provide full information where crime has been committed,” Kinoti says in court papers.
