Suspect in Sh72 Million ATM Heist Was Executed In Cold Blood – Lawyer Ombeta

Criminal Lawyer Cliff Ombeta has today called out the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for executing the alleged mastermind behind the Sh72 million ATM heist that took place in September 2019.

In a tweet, the lawyer claims the detectives pulled the man from his house and killed in a cold-blooded execution “This was an execution. Everything else you are saying is a lie. There was no” fierce shootout”,” the lawyer wrote.

The DCI had released a statement claiming Wycliff Vincent Oduor was gunned down in a fierce shootout between a 3-man gang of Robbery after detectives responded to a distress call from the public at Kayole Junction in Nairobi. “The Mastermind in Ksh.72M Nairobi West ATM Heist last year; Wycliff Vincent ODUOR was today gunned down in a fierce shootout between a 3-man gang.” The DCI had said in a statement.

The controversial lawyer, however, dismissed the claims stating there were no reports of robberies in the said area. “No reports of robberies, no muggings within that jurisdiction. This one, you will not cover-up. I will not let you. You know why you executed him, so do i. You took him from his house.” wrote the seemingly annoyed lawyer.

The accused and others including three police officers had been charged with robbery with violence after allegedly robbing G4S staff of the Sh74 million and 38 cassettes, 13 purge bins and 13 canvas bags, totalling Sh75.9 million.
