Hearing of a case involving the murder of lawyer Willie Kimani at a Nairobi court has botched after one of the accused tested positive for covid-19 and was not able to appear.
The court was told that the second accused AP officer Stephen Cheburet who is remanded at Kamiti Maximum prison is still undergoing treatment.
The court has so far taken testimonies from 41 witnesses and only two are left to close the prosecution case where four Administration Police officers Fredrick Leliman, Sylvia Wanjiru, Leonard Mwangi and Stephen Cheburet together with police informer Ngugi are accused of killing lawyer Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri.
The bodies of the three were found floating in River Ol Donyo Sabuk.
The case was adjourned in July after Justice Lessit raised concerns over the lack of a conducive court that would accommodate all parties.
She complained that tent that was provided by the Judiciary was too small to hold everyone while adhering to the Ministry of Health directives on social distancing to contain the spread of covid-19.
Justice Lessit asked the judiciary for a 100 capacity tent but was instead given the small tent forcing her to apologize to the lawyers for the inconvenience.
