Tanga Tanga resorts to a ‘community seminar’ to brainstorm over BBI report

Rift Valley politicians allied to the Deputy President William Ruto have organised a two day retreat in Naivasha to study the Building Bridges Initiative report.
BBI report was launched last Tuesday at the Bomas of Kenya and its implementation has split the political class.
Tanga tanga will adopt a common ground but the DP and a majority of his allies have urged that the report be taken to the parliament for adoption while ODM led by Raila Odinga are for pushing for a referendum direction.
Naivasha retreat also comes at a time when ‘Tanga Tanga’ has raised complains that the Deputy President was humiliated during the report’s launch.
Speculations are also all over that there is a possibility that President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga are grooming the Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i to succeed him in 2022. This is dealing the DP a major blow since he is banking on the president’s support.
The Naivasha meet will bring together elected leaders, professionals, religious leaders, opinion leaders and it is also expected to culminate into a 2022 presidential succession.
Organisers are also contemplating to expand the meeting to include leaders from Samburu, Turkana, Kalenjin and Maasai under the Kamatusa umbrella.
President Uhuru Kenyatta held a similar meeting with the leaders from the GEMA community last month at the Sagana State Lodge.
‘We will meet to read, understand and analyse the meaning of the report’s recommendations as a community’ Soi Mp Caleb Kositany said.
Hon. Kositany who is one of the organisers added that the Thursday- Friday meeting is open to all leaders from Rift Valley irrespective of their political affiliations.
Jubilee nominated Mp David Sankok also said that they will use the meeting to review Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid as all counties from the Rift will back one presidential candidate.
But Cherengany Mp Joshua Kutuny dismissed the meeting as irrelevant and only seeking to for selfish agenda.
