A teenager aged 15 years old is among three robbery with violence suspects arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation(DCI) detectives armed with machetes along the southern bypass.

According to DCI, they were arrested as they prepared to stage attacks against motorists.

Brian Mwangi and Nickson Muchiri aged 25, were arrested following a well executed operation, mounted by Langata based Police Officers.

“A third suspect aged 15, was also arrested as he fled to the nearby Ngong forest, in a bid to evade arrest,” stated DCI.

The police oafficers impounded two motorbikes used by the criminals as their getaway means.

Their arrest follows a spate of attacks that have been staged against motorists, along the busy highway.

Last week, six other suspects were flushed out of the forest in a similar operation, after they attacked a motorist and his 3-year-old son.

“Tom Onyango and his three year-old son were driving from Nakuru to Nairobi, when they were accosted by the thugs a few metres past the virtual weigh bridge,” DCI stated.

According to DCI, immediately Onyango made his report at Langata Police Station, a contingent of officers drawn from general duty, DCI and a tracker dog from the canine unit were deployed to flush out the suspects, who had taken cover deep in the nearby forest.

“When the officers finally emerged from the forest, they had six suspects in their custody, three of whom were positively identified by the badly shaken victim and his son, as those who had attacked them,” said the DCI.

The suspects will be arraigned in court today to face charges of preparing to commit a felony, contrary to section 308 (1) of the penal code.
