Makongeni MCA who is also Nairobi County Assembly minority whip Peter Imwatok is in the news after top city lawyer Tom Ojienda allegedly bought him an apartment along Langa’ata road and a prado KDB.
It all started when Imwatok pushed for Ojienda’s law firm to be paid a whopping sh 50 million in March 22nd.

This was against orders of Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) boss Major General Mohammed Badi and the new governor Anne Kananu.
Badi and Kananu were pushing for the County to pay contractors pending bills in form of development.

But Imwatok reportedly threatened to remove the County finance team if they did not pay Ojienda.
After being intimidated and successfully arm-twisted, they obliged and paid the city lawyer.

The minority leader said to be disrespectful both to the governor and Badi was overheard saying the 72 contractors yet to be paid did not deserve an agent attention.
Imwatok while pushing for the payment claimed he did not actively participate in the removal of the former governor Mike Sonko to be poor, pointing it was his time to swim in money.

It’s said that, Imwatok got almost half of the sh50 million dubious payment given that the house was bought and sh15 million while the fuel guzzler car was purchased at sh7 million, bringing his share to a total sh22 million.
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is reported to be investigating why the law firm was paid against the proposed payment.
