Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Rebecca Miano, convened a consultative meeting on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, with the Chief Executive Officers of key agencies under her ministry.

The gathering aimed to strengthen coordination and enhance efficiency in advancing Kenya’s tourism and conservation objectives.
During the meeting, Miano underscored the importance of a Whole-of-Ministry approach that integrates all sectors of the ministry in a unified, strategic direction.
She pointed out that this approach would improve agility, align goals, and ensure impactful delivery in achieving Kenya’s tourism and conservation targets.
The CS also highlighted the historic growth the tourism sector has experienced over the past year. She noted that in 2024, Kenya had recorded an impressive 2.4 million international visitors, contributing to a total of 7.5 million tourists.
This represents a 14.6 percent increase from the previous year. Miano attributed this growth to sectoral resilience and strategic interventions aimed at strengthening Kenya’s position as a global tourism destination.
In terms of financial growth, Miano reported that tourism earnings had risen to Ksh 452.2 billion, marking a 19.79 percent increase over the previous year.
This surge in tourism revenue reflects both the sector’s resilience and the positive impact of ongoing governmental efforts.
“This meeting is a critical part of our commitment to ensuring the tourism sector continues to be a major driver of Kenya’s economy,” Miano stated.
She further stressed that the robust performance of the sector in 2024 serves as a solid foundation for even greater achievements in the coming years, provided that key players in the tourism and conservation sectors work together with a renewed sense of purpose.
