A Ngara-based trader identified as Willy alias Rasta is on the run after beating a police officer to death yesterday at Ngara Nyayo Market.
Reports say the police constable attached to the Parklands Police Station had argued with Rasta before the argument led to a fight where he was beaten to death.
Witnesses said the police officer had an argument with the suspect, identified as Willy alias Rasta, over an old phone at the trader’s shop.
The argument went south and the trader hit the policeman in the head with a blow sending him sprawling on the road. Witnesses said that the suspect also stepped on the officer’s stomach killing him instantly.
The incident was reported at Pangani Police Station and recorded under OB 76 /17/11/2020 at 4:48pm.
The murder suspect had fled the scene, by the time police officers from Pangani visited the market to collect evidence and take the body to the morgue.
Body of the victim was taken to Kenyatta University Hospital mortuary.
