The National Police Service has instituted disciplinary measures against a traffic cop who forced himself into a car through a window.
In a dramatic incident captured live by a Citizen TV crew who were on the beat in Nairobi’s central business district, the officer forcefully gained access into the vehicle before ejecting the driver who took flight.
What initially appeared to be an argument between the driver and the traffic cop, degenerated into an ugly scene as the cop took one step back, removed his cap and shoved his left foot through the co-driver’s window gaining entry to the vehicle, with little regard to the passenger occupying the passenger seat.
A brief altercation then followed before the beleaguered driver was ejected and the cop commandeered the vehicle with the remaining occupant totally bemused.
The incident that occurred at Kenyatta avenue has attracted online condemnation with netizens calling out the officer for behaving in a distasteful manner and portraying the entire police service in a bad light.
The National Police Service has in a communication released this evening condemned the incident, identified the errant officer and instituted immediate disciplinary action against him.

Chris Onderi – “When I occupy the office of the president, all police officers will be tertiary education graduates. Intellectuals can’t be complaining about joblessness while people without brains are wearing uniforms.
We’ve very few police officers who you can interact with and see sense in their talk, the majority want to intimidate you the moment you visit a police station or encounter them on your way!!”
Peter Muigua – “I blame the training of our police officers. Until the time the police will be trained to understand that civilians are their customers and that any customer deserves to be treated with dignity and honour no matter who the customer is, expect more of these dramas.”
Vexinah Cheptoo Mueni – “I think new regulation should be put across the police Act that at a given period police offers should be subjected to mental health checkups. The scenes we are seeing of late are somehow from insane people.”
Mùgathigia Mureithi Wa Mukundi – “This should be treated with the sensitivity it deserves – maybe he’s unable to control his perceived “power” of accusing innocent motorists and getting away with it.
1st he should undergo a psychiatric evaluation otherwise beyond this stage he’ll be a danger even to himself and his colleagues”

More officers are deployed in the CBD daily and no person can break the law and have his way out of CBD without being arrested., police please adhere to the rule of law of maintaining law and order and protecting life and property”
