Trouble Loading At Simon Gicharu’s TV47

Prof. Simon Gicharu, founder and Chairman Mount Kenya University

TV47, the new entrant into the Kenyan media space owned by Mount Kenya University owner Prof. Simon Gicharu is accused of mistreatment of staff.

Professional staff at the TV station wonder why it is operating under the mediocre leadership of one Eugene Anangwe who is accused of overworking, terrorising, threatening and underpaying Journalists.

Journalists say they are paid Ksh20k a month.

This meagre salary forces most of the staff to live in ghettos, most have faced the wrathnof muggers and robbers as they walk back home late hours and to work very early mornings.

‘Why own a TV station when you’ve got no financial muscle to run one?’, our source ponders.

A reality show by a group of disabled people called Marafiki was aired and ended abruptly.

The ‘actors’ were not given contracts and weren’t paid all their dues. If KRA doesn’t tax the disabled, who does TV47 think they are to take advantage? Are they paying the kids doing the News show on the channel or is that child labour?

This is another statistic going the Mt Kenya TV way very soon.

Eugene Anangwe, CEO TV47

‘Mr Anangwe is a bully and a micromanager who runs TV47 like a kiosk’, the source affirms

He fired the whole Digital team of over 12 and gave Ksh800k cash to the show by Chipukeezy who’s unpopular show shoots before an audience of a handful of his friends

Kenyan Bulletin has learnt that the rogue manager has fired all marketing guys.

He is accused of signing contracts so that He can fire people based on his mood.

Of this continues then the TV station will go belly up.

‘He hopes he can do miracles to sell a station that is not known’, our source concludes.
