Truth About Terror Threat At Mirage Tower

This morning, messages circulating on WhatsApp stated that there was an evacuation of people from Mirage Towers in West lands, Nairobi due to a potential terrorist activity in the building.

Kenya’s most authoritative blog KenyanBullettin.com can confirm that those measures are not true.

Our investigations reveals that some firms within Mirage Towers told their staff to work from home because of a potential threat to Kempinsky Hotel, within that area.

Last week, the US Embassy in Nairobi issued a terror threat alert stating that terrorists were plotting a major attack on a popular hotel in Nairobi.

The US Embassy alert further stated that the identity of the hotel was not clear.

Nonetheless, Kenyans are still urged to:

  1. Exercise increased vigilance when visiting or staying at hotels in the Nairobi area.
  2. If staying at a hotel, be aware of the hotel’s evacuation plan. Plan ahead of time how you would exit the hotel in case of an emergency.
  3. Review your personal security plans.
  4. Be aware of your surroundings.
  5. Monitor local media for updates.
