Two people feared dead as plane crashes at Vuria Hill in Taita Taveta

Two people feared dead after an aircraft they were in crashed at Vuria Hill in Taita Taveta County today evening, authorities have confirmed.

The light fixed-wing aircraft was en route to Mombasa from Arusha and is said to have had three passengers on board.

Vuria is the highest point in Kenya’s Coastal region and part of a flight path from Arusha to Mombasa.

This comes just a day after a chopper that had flown ODM leader Raila Odinga to a function crashed as it tried to lift off at Kudho Primary School in Gem, Siaya County

According to Raila’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango, the helicopter, Bell 407 registration 5Y-PSM was trying to create space for other choppers when it went down.

The accident left one person injured.
