Tyler Onyango signs with EPL side Everton

Fast rising Midfielder Tyler Onyango has inked his first professional contract with Premier League side Everton until the end of June 2023.

Onyango, 17, who joined  Everton nine years ago has been rewarded for his impressive progress throughout his time at Everton Academy. He has been consistently shining for the junior team and was promoted to the club’s Under-23s set-up during the 2019/20 campaign.

He is born to a Kenyan father, Evans Onyango and a British mother Amy.

The skillful central midfielder is eligible to present England or Kenya’s national team Harambee Stars. He featured in seven matches in Premier League 2 before the competition was halted by covid-19 outbreak.

Onyango will becomes the second player with Kenyan roots to play in the coveted EPL, which is one of the top soccer leagues in the world.

Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama who now plays for the Canadian side, Montreal played for two premier league clubs, Southampton and Tottenham in his seven year stint.

Everton’s Under 18-coach Paul Tait described the ball winning midfielder as a ‘machine’ due to his physicality on the pitch. “His physicality catches your eye straight away, doesn’t it? He’s 6ft 3in. He’s an absolute machine in terms of his physicality so he catches your eye straight away,” Tait said.

But Coach Tait urged for patience saying the player still has  a lot to learn in his development.
