Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi turned up the pressure on Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti, following the gruesome death of a journalist.
Correspondent Eric Oloo, attached to The Star, was found dead inside a police officer’s house on Thursday, November 21 and detectives are investigating an alleged love triangle after he suffered deep stab wounds on his body.
According to Tuesday, November 26 report by Daily Nation, Wandayi demands that DCI Kinoti should personally oversee the probe, explaining that Oloo was an important figure in his constituency.
He further added that he was dissatisfied with the investigations carried out so far and requested that homicide detectives from the DCI headquarters be included.
“The public, therefore, rightfully deserves to know the truth about his death. No doubt, I have been keenly monitoring the developments, including purported police investigations. I wish to state that so far, these investigations have not inspired confidence in the public.
“It is, therefore, imperative that this dastardly act of murder is resolved speedily and the real culprits arraigned without equivocation,” stated Wandayi.
He further advised the institution to collect solid evidence in the case with the aim of convicting the perpetrators.
“In view of the foregoing, I wish to demand the direct involvement of the DCI. It is a matter that, I believe, calls for the deployment of homicide experts from the headquarters under the command of a neutral senior officer. Anything else will be totally unacceptable,” he continued.
Ugunja Deputy OCS Sabina Kerubo, who is the main suspect in the murder, and her boyfriend were arrested hours after the body was found in her house.
Three other people were taken into police custody in connection with the incident, including two brothers who allegedly ganged up to beat the correspondent.
