PS Susan Mochache is among the top officials at the Health ministry who have been moved following an order by President Uhuru Kenyatta. She was moved from MoH to the Medical Services while Francis Owino was moved the Public Health as the new PS.
Peter Thuku will now be the Principal Administrative Secretary while Dr. Patrick Amoth remains the Acting Director-General in the ministry.
The president made the changes amid allegations of massive theft at Kemsa where covid-19 funds have been looted.
State House spokesperson Kanze Dena-Mararo who announced the new changes also said that Amb Johnson Weru is the new Industrialisation PS and the changes take effect immediately.
She also said that the changes are part of president Uhuru Kenyatta’s efforts to to strengthen the ministry as it continues to lead the fight on the Covid-19.
Uhuru said infections in the country have been reduced to a manageable level with a high number of recoveries being reported.
“IWe are reporting more recoveries in some instances than infections. Hot spots like Mombasa and Nairobi have begun to stabilise,” he said.
The president further instructed directed EACC to move with speed and probe the Kemsa looting in 21 days.
