US President Donald Trump impeached

United States President Donald Trump has been impeached over claims of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

The House of Representatives on Wednesday voted and passed two articles of impeachment against Trump.

After debating the two articles, the House of Representatives proceeded to vote, where most members voted in favor of Trump’s impeachment.

The House Judiciary Chairman, Nadler, appreciated that voted in support of the impeachment motion, hailing them for having ‘living up to their responsibility’.

“Today, we lived up to our responsibility to the American people by taking action to defend our national security, to preserve our democratic elections and to show that no one, not even the President, is above the law,” said House Judiciary Chairman Nadler

On her part, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the vote honour’s the vision of the founders in establishing a republic.

Donald Trump becomes the third President in the history of the United States to be impeached.

His impeachment means, he will face a trial in the Senate to decide whether he remains in office, or not.

While members of the house were voting for his impeachment, Trump was addressing a gathering in Battle Creek, Michigan, where he accused his accusers of ‘envy’.

“While we’re creating jobs and fighting for Michigan, the radical left in Congress is consumed with envy and hatred and rage, you see what’s going on,” he said as quoted by BBC.
