Veteran KBC Journalist Dies

Beatrice Kevogo, a veteran KBC Radio producers has died after being involved in a road accident in Rongo town, Migori County.

According to a report by KBC, the veteran radio producer passed away on earlier today after her car collided head-on with a truck near Rongo town.

Her 31-year-old son, Presley Sagala, told the police that the journalist was travelling to Hamisi from Migori to pick her elderly mother who was to travel to Kitale.

Rongo Sub County Police Commander Peter Okiring while confirming the incident stated that the incident occurred at 11am.

Okiring blamed the driver of the lorry for the accident stating that he was trying to overtake another car along the Kisii-Migori road.

He hit the journalist’s saloon car which was coming from the opposite direction, killing her and three other occupants on the spot.

The police boss stated that the other three occupants who died in the ill-fated car included two closerelatives of Kevogo and a church member.

Witnesses also claimed that the truck was over-speeding when the accident occurred.

The bodies were taken to Rosewood Hospital mortuary in Rongo.

Kevogo was a producer of religious programmes at KBC including ‘Mwamba wa Baraka’ and ‘Safari ya Bibilia’.
