Former banker Mercy Nkatha: A close confidant of Governor Anne Kananu who now claims she was forced to expose sexual favours between judges and the newly appointed Nairobi governor

A lady that appeared in former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko’s controversial “Judiciary Leaks” has finally broken her silence over the videos that heavily circulated on social media.

Speaking to journalists on Monday 22 November 2021, in Karen, 38-year-old Mercy Nkatha told her side of the story in which she claimed her innocence and maintained she made the damning statements under supposed duress from the troubled politician.

While seeking protection from police, Nkatha, a former banker by profession, poured her heart out and narrated some of the ordeals she has been going through under the hands of Sonko and his handlers whom she says are after her life.

According to her, the former Senator has been desperately seeking to have her as a witness in two cases filed against Governor Kananu and Justice Said Chitembwe in court.

A request which Sonko has refused to take no for an answer.

Nkatha went on to reveal that the ousted City Hall boss resulted in other ulterior means like offering her huge chunks of cash.

She still refused to be part of the case.

When it all failed, he escalated his an alleged kidnapping incident on November 20, 2021, which she says was orchestrated by persons she knew.

She adds that her abduction and the subsequent happenings on that fateful evening were a consequence of refusing to cooperate with Sonko.

After blocking her on the road, Nkatha says that the people claimed to be police officers who wanted to “inspect” her vehicle.

While inside the car, Nkatha claims she was then forced to call Sonko at gunpoint and then recite a special questionnaire with statements that badly exposed her friend Anne Kananu, Justice Chitembwe, lawyer Cecil Miller and other top figures in Kenya’s judiciary.

During the ordeal, Nkatha said she was given “some chocolate to eat” which was meant to make her relax.

She alleged that Sonko threatened to release the audio to the public if he didn’t get what he wanted.

He apparently wanted Sh20 million from Kananu for him to stop releasing the audio.

True to his word, Sonko later released it as part of his series of clips targeting the judiciary.

He alleged that Governor Kananu had offered sex in exchange for favours from two high profile judges.

According to the former banker, she has known Sonko for almost two years.

In the video below, she described Sonko as “a jinxed man” who is out for vengeance.

Langata police boss Benjamin Mwanthi told kenyanbulletin.com that already investigations have kicked off following the claims.

Here is her full confession.
