Supporters of Raila Odinga in his Siaya County backyard have filed a petition to push the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party into nullifying all certificates awarded to winners of Alego Usonga MCA nominations.
The furious voters have faulted the party over the lack of transparency in the exercise that was marred by irregularities, malpractices and protests.
On Monday, May 2, the Political Party Dispute Tribunal (PPDT) nullified the nomination of the Alego Usonga constituency member of Parliament Honourable Samuel Atandi and ordered fresh nominations to be conducted within 72 hours.
This ruling was made after a successful appeal by Samuel Atandi’s opponent Dr Nicholas Ochogo who filed the petition and insisted that he deserved the win.
In the nominations, Atandi had 17,789 votes and Ochogo had 3,350 votes
In its ruling, the tribunal nullified the win of Atandi on the grounds that the exercise was not free, fair, transparent, accountable and verifiable.

“ODM party is fixing us with poor leaders at a local level, we are tired of suffering for 5 years because ODM needs their people at the top.
The ruling witnessed yesterday 01.04.2022 from the political parties dispute tribunal nullifying the nomination of Alego Usonga Mp – Samuel Atandi is evident enough that the nomination primaries in the constituency were stained with irregularities and malpractices and the nomination process was unconstitutional.
Therefore, it is prudent enough for the party to nullify all certificates awarded to various nominated MCAs in the following Wards:
- West Alego
- Central Alego
- South East Alego
- Siaya township
- North Alego
- Usonga
