Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has praised President Uhuru Kenyatta’s move to reshuffle the cabinet.
She said that the move will make leaders put aside politics and self interest and serve Kenyans before the much hyped 2022.
“The changes of Cabinet by H.E the President are very welcome and timely. We hope that this new team and especially those in charge of sectors directly touching on the lives of the peoples will put politics and self interest aside and focus on service delivery to Kenyans,” She said.
Uhuru reshuffled his Cabinet on tuesday with Mwangi Kiunjuri becoming a key casualty after he was sent packing from the Agriculture docket after Peter Munya was appointed the Agriculture CS.
Kiunjuri has been ‘a marked man’ since the last year with m,aize and fertilizer scandals and his affliation with the Tangatanga team only added salt to his injuries.
Also sent packing is suspended Finance Secretary Henry Rotich who was shown the door after Ukur Yatani was confirmed as the head of the docket.
Yatani has been holding the docket on temporary basis since Rotich was suspended over corruption allegations.
Defence CS Raychelle Omamo has been switched with Monica Juma of Foreign Affairs while Sicily Kariuki (Health) was moved to the Water docket.
Kariuki will take over from Simon Chelugui who has been moved to the Labour docket.
Speaking in State House Mombasa , Uhuru also made new nominations to the Cabinet.
Former Nyeri Senator Mutahi Kagwe – CS Health, Betty Maina (CS Industrialisation), John Weru ( PS Trade) and Jwan Ouma ( PS Vocational and Technical Training).
