Wazito’s Musa shocked by maiden call to national squad

KPL side Wazito FC’s midfielder Brian Musa has revealed that he was shocked by his maiden call to the national team,  Harambee Stars by head coach Francis Kimanzi.

The midfielder is among other 16 local-based players assembled for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier match pitting Kenya against Comoros.

Musa is regularly featuring for his club under coach Stewart Hall and he hopes to work harder with his club in the Kenyan Premier League to keep his place at the national squad.

Musa together with AFC Leopards’ Collins Shichenje and KCB’s Baraka Badi are some of the players who were handed their first national call-ups by Kimanzi.

“I am pleased with the call-up but I must admit that it came as a surprise, I did not expect it. I want to give thanks to God because he made this happen,” Musa said in the clubs website.

He also expressed his appreciation to Kimanzi saying that it has always been his dream to don the national jersey and Kimanzi made that dream come true and he wants to cement his place in the national team.

Musa is joining the camp with his team mates in preparation of the match against the islanders but the Group G match may be postponed due to coronavirus outbreak fears.

Kenyan government through the Ministry of Health has banned conferences and meetings of more than 15 people of international nature for the next 30 days. This is a precaution towards curbing the spread and keeping the country free from the deadly virus.

Kenya will be playing at home against Comoros at Moi International Sports Complex, Kasarani on March 25.
