WHO lists Kenyans as most depressed in Africa

WHO placed Kenya 4th in the highest number of depressed people in Africa and 9th globally; 1.9 million Kenyans are depressed.

According to the report, 5 in every 6 Kenyans who suffer from mental illness do not receive treatment.

This is despite a Presidential executive order in November last year for construction of a modern national mental hospital and the elevation of Mathari to be a semi-autonomous, specialised hospital.

On other news, Police in Kibwezi have launched investigations after a man reportedly killed his wife before committing suicide.

On Tuesday morning, Kibwezi Assistant Commissioner Vitalis Ogur confirmed the incident.

The couple, according to reports were casual labourers at a sisal company in the region but had separated over marital wrangles.

Witnesses who spoke to Musyi FM say the man attacked his estranged wife with a panga, killing her on the spot.

He later committed suicide by hanging himself a few meters from where he had reportedly killed the lady.

The body of the woman was collected by police officers early Tuesday morning.
