DPP Hajji wants Orengo off Manduku cas

Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji filed an application seeking to bar Senior Counsel James Orengo from representing Kenya Ports Authority Boss Daniel Manduku on accounts of conflicts of interests.
DPP wants the court to hold that appearance of Orengo or any other state officer in the petition filed by Manduku as being against the spirit of chapter six of the Kenyan laws.
Manduku is seeking to stop the DPP from pressing charges on him according to the investigation report by the DCI.
Mr. Hajji through his assistant Alexander Muteti wants Mr. Manduku to engage a lawyer who does not double up as a state officer at the same time.
They argue that Orengo is an elected Siaya senator and therefore a fulltime state officer who should not engage in other gainful employments.
Muteti argues that Orengo is entiltled to practice law but his practice should not conflict with the public interest that he also has the duty to protect.
