Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Sunday sat away from other governors in an incident that could raise eyebrows among members of the public.
Despite all governors reserved special seats within the main dais, Sonko occupied the back row, but it could not immediately established who gave the instructions.
A State House source however, says that President Uhuru Kenyatta is keen to keep off from leaders facing various corruption claims in the country.
Governor Sonko is reportedly under EACC radar but has often accused unnamed cartels of allegedly orchestrating his woes at City Hall.
“That order was given to the organising team by State House. The President has, for some time, been keen on avoiding leaders either facing court cases or under active investigations,” a source said in reference to ejection of Ferdinand Waititu.
In a previous event, President Uhuru Kenyatta vowed never to pick calls from his close friends who are being pursued by authorities over corruption.
Sonko has also been facing troubles within City Hall, with a section of politicians accusing him of forcing workers to execute their roles under duress.
