The Wiper Patriotic Front has dismissed claims that its leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, is planning to ditch the United Opposition after a viral notice alleged that he was set to make a major political announcement.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 28, the party flagged the circulating letter as fake, saying it did not originate from Wiper. The party urged Kenyans to disregard the notice and ignore the claims surrounding Kalonzo’s political future.
"Ignore the fake news. We are committed to the Wantam Movement. Kenya’s liberation is a must, and Kenya cannot be liberated until we send this regime home," the party stated.
Wiper reaffirmed its commitment to the opposition movement, saying it will continue working with other opposition leaders in efforts to defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
The fake notice, which carried the Wiper Patriotic Front logo, claimed that Kalonzo would address members of the media at the SKM Command Centre in Karen at 2 pm. It further alleged that the former Vice President would make a "significant statement regarding his political trajectory and the future of Kenya’s leadership."
The claims come at a time when Kalonzo’s political plans have attracted increased attention ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
The Wiper leader has faced criticism from some members of the public over what they describe as low-key political activities, with questions raised about his choice of engagements as opposition parties intensify their campaigns.
Over the weekend, while other opposition leaders were touring different parts of the country holding large rallies, Kalonzo was in his home area of Tseikuru, Kitui County.
His limited public political activities have led some critics to question his seriousness in the opposition’s efforts to challenge President Ruto in the next election.
Kalonzo remains among the key figures being considered for the opposition presidential ticket after opposition parties agreed to support a single candidate to face President Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
