Ali Roba’s aide flees with Sh10 million part corruption money set to buy a Nairobi building worth Sh100 million

Mandera County Governor Ali Roba is counting looses after his trusted employee fleed with Sh10 million which was part of Sh40 million down payment in purchasing a Sh100 million building in Nairobi.

The aide was tasked to deliver Sh40 million down payment to the owner of a building located in the Nairobi but instead the aide opted to slice Sh10 million out of the Sh40 million and quit his Sh70,000 job.

The Sh40 million was part of the Sh100 million that Ali Roba had agreed to purchase the building at. The money is also believed to be the proceeds of massive corruption ongoing at the county.

The aide reportedly texted Ali Roba after taking the money stating that it was time to reward himself.

Sources close Ali Roba indicated that the governor will not report the matter to the police as it can make the two go down together at a time President Uhuru Kenyatta is keen on fighting corruption.

He is also allegedly spending other millions on detectives to ensure that the matter does not get out of hand and at the same time using his proxies to deny that nothing of the sort happened.

“Roba has ruled out involving the police in this matter since he will not be able to clarify the source of the cash” one of his Aides revealed.

The governor whose first ten County Executive committee members were rejected by MCAs on grounds of corruption, is now suffering in silence.

Roba’s close allies have vowed not to let the information leak to the media and would do everything to that effect.
