Why Next 2 Weeks are Crucial for Kenya

The next two weeks are going to be a reality check on how things can, since corona virus was first confirmed, be messy and  bad or even worse!

As Milton Friedman would put it; “The governments solution to a problem is usually as bad as the problem and often makes the problem worse.”

Kenya announced to close schools nationwide on Sunday after two fresh cases of corona-virus were confirmed, taking the tally to three in the country.

“We have suspended learning in all our educational institutions with immediate effect. For those in boarding schools, the school administration is to ensure that students are home by Wednesday,” President Uhuru Kenyatta said in a televised address.

Kenya confirmed its first case on Friday. The patient is a woman who recently traveled to the U.S. via London.

Kenya also banned entry of travelers from any virus-hit country. The president encouraged employers to allow staff to work from home.

Corona Virus Cases:

After emerging in Wuhan, China last December, the virus known as COVID-19, has spread to at least 146 countries and territories. The global death toll from the virus has surpassed 7,200, with more than 182,000 cases confirmed worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. WHO also reports that 79,908 have recovered.

Why Next 2 Weeks are Crucial for Kenya.

Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony has confirmed a suspected case of Coronavirus infection in his county. Governor Chepkwony reported that a 47-year-old, Indian man who displayed suspected symptoms of the deadly infection had been put in isolation at Londiani Sub-county Hospital.

The governor further stated that samples had been collected from the man to be tested in Nairobi before he is confirmed to have the disease.

Using Italy as the case Study, Italy reported 368 new deaths from the corona-virus while the number of confirmed cases rose to 24,747, according to the country’s civil protection authority said. This trend is even more terrific on a global scale.

Everywhere in the world, The governments first priority is to protect the people and not to run their lives. Even though the State has taken quick measures, little is being done to protect the people. Why is the government not nor has bothered to quarantine the whole Nation? Italy did that and that is what saved them. Is there any country in EAC that has dispersed self-quarantine to her citizen?

If we take adequate precaution and break the chain then we can tide the Corona virus Outbreak or else we have a big problem in hand especially for the elderly population
So far so good.

Our government has done well so far in its fight to contain Corona Virus. Now we are in stage 1 in which Virus spreads through individuals infected but soon in second and third stages it spreads through social contacts & in social gatherings and that is why the government pro-acted and banned all gatherings and closed schools:+1:

This is most critical stage & number of confirmed cases spread exponentially everyday like what happened in Italy between last week of February & second week of March. From 300 to 10,000. If Kenya is not able to manage this stage for next 3 to 4 weeks then we could have confirmed cases not in hundreds but in thousands. This next one month is crucial. That is why most events & public gatherings have been closed for the next 30 days.

Will prayers help or the Virus will prey on us? No need to be scared if you will follow all precautions set either by the government or those published by scientists and other relevant researcher, scholars.

Governments around the world have stepped up restrictions on the movement of their citizens to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has killed nearly 5,800 people with over 153,000 infected globally, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

Back to Kenya, Just because schools are closed avoid getting that compulsive travel & Holiday bug. Holidays will come next year too why try your luck with Corona specially with children. Marriage functions, Birthday parties etc can wait. Don’t try your luck & that bravado that nothing will happen to me. Next 30 days will be most crucial in medical History of Kenya. Each Kenyan is obliged to take all precautions while at home & while outside for any important work. Precaution is not panic.

Kenyan Bulletin will be updating you indepth of all Corona virus. We courteously urge you all to be (a) responsible citizen(s) by following & educating others to remain careful for next one month.
