In May 2018 Football Kenya Federation rolled out the red carpet for Frenchman Sébastien Migné as he took over as head coach of the senior national team, Harambee Stars as well as the overall manager of the country’s age group sides.
Migne joined Harambee Stars being the head coach of the Republic of Congo and was paraded as the man to fulfill FKF’s cherished vision of establishing Kenya as a continental force by the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations but was dismissed for dismal performance in Egypt 2019.
Federation not paying and dismissing tacticians before the expiry of their contracts is not a new thing in Kenya. It has always been the tradition laced with court battles.
FKF now claims to be cash-strapped and struggling to meet its obligations. The federation has been slapped with a huge bill of Sh163 million to pay coaches who are no longer in charge of Harambee Stars for unlawful dismissal.
Belgian tactician Adel Amrouche has had a long court battle with FKF and has been awarded (Sh108m) and Scotsman Bobby Williamson Sh 55 million.
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Chief Executive, Barry Otieno affirmed that they will appeal to the government to pay Adel Amrouche but the federation is going to appeal the decision to pay Williamson.
