There was a scuffle between Lee Funeral Home management and Ken Okoth’s first wife Monica after she reportedly tried to take Ken Okoth’s body forcefully.
Reports reaching our news desk state that Monica stormed the high end funeral home on Friday at around 10 Pm with unidentified people.
The management of the funeral home however declined to hand over Okoth’s body to Monica at night stating that it is against their policy.
The widow insisted on leaving with Okoth’s body stating that there were rumours that Kibera constituents were planning to block roads heading to the venue where the MP was set to be cremated.
The Italian lady argued that they wanted to cremate the body of the late Ken before all the drama that was slated to emerge during the date set for cremation.
“Monica’s team wanted Ken’s body taken that night so that they could proceed to Kariokor without the knowledge of the alleged dissatisfied constituents. According to them, they wanted by the time the Kibra people were barricading routes leading to Kariokor, the process would have long been over,” Uhondo News quoted a source.
After the standoff between Lee Funeral Home and Monica, Ken Okoth’s body was released at 3 Am and taken to undisclosed location until 7Am when they arrived at Kariokor where the late MP was cremated.
Okoth’s wife Monica, brother Imram and Edwin Sifuna were the only people present during the cremation.
After Ken Okoth’s cremation his mother Angelina who was excluded from the cremation ceremony will be forced to bury a banana stalk at her home in Homabay County as a sign of respect to the late MP who succumbed to cancer.
