Uhuru: Africa should begin ignoring colonial boundaries

President Uhuru Kenyatta sees no need for regional countries to have some colonial demarcations limiting unity and peace.
He puts it that the region stands greater chances to excel when people work together in peace and harmony.
He spoke at the State House on Monday night when he hosted King Abdile Wabar Abdi, the traditional leader of the Degodia community in Ethiopia. The community is also found in Kenya, Somalia and Djibouti.
King Abdi was accompanied by a huge delegation of the community from Kenya and Ethiopia when he delivered his message of peace and unity to President Kenyatta.
Kenyatta said that cultural diplomacy should be used as the vessel that brings people together and Kenya, he added, is not seeing neighbours as enemies but allies in development.
He lauded the traditional leader for championing peace and unity in the region.
The president has a role in ensuring cross-border in the region, so he honoured king Abdile with Elder of Burning Spear (EBS) award. The award is regarded as one the highest national honours.
It was an opportunity for politicians from north eastern regions of Kenya to act overzealous. Current and former governors were in attendance. They included Aden Keynan, Ahmed Kolosh, Bashir Abdulahi, Abas Sheikh, Abdikadir Mohamed among others.
Kenyan head of public service Joseph Kinyua was also present, Ethiopian ASmbassador to Kenya Meles Alem and CAS Mohamed Elmi.
