GSU Nabbed For Abducting Safaricom Employee

A police constable from the GSU is among two suspects who were arrested on Saturday by DCI detectives in Mombasa for allegedly abducting an official from Safaricom on Friday in Malindi.

Police constable Kelvin Komora who is based at GSU camp in Baringo County had allegedly abducted the said Safaricom employee who works in Malindi in a suspected loan recovery mission. The employee had borrowed Sh 500, 000. Other suspects who were arrested are Grace Wairimu and Omar Mwanguze.

Mombasa Urban DCI Anthony Muriithi confirmed the incident saying the suspects are being held at central police station pending investigations.

“We have three suspects in custody including an officer. This is serious, how can a police officer engage in such incidences? We cannot tolerate, one has to go home,” he said.

The suspects had claimed that the woman victim had taken Sh500,000 loan from one of the abductors identified as Ms Grace Wairimu but in the process she failed to repay the money as it was agreed.

The suspects then decided to seek police assistance.

The DCI officers from Malindi and their Mombasa counterparts trailed the suspects until they drove themselves to central police station where they were arrested.

The area DCI boss said the suspects will be arraigned on Monday once investigations are completed adding that the Nissan motor Vehicle was also seized in the process.
