How Uhuru, Ruto allies will battle for Jubilee positions in March elections

Jubilee’s Kieleweke and Tangatanga outfits are set to battle for the takeover and control of the affairs of the party in power.

JP is set to hold party elections in March 2020. The grassroot elections will pit  the allies of President Uhuru Kenyatta and those of Deputy President William Ruto.

Ruto’s key allies in the Tangatanga faction revealeved to KB that the second in command wants to have an easy time in 2020 and 2021 to focus on his 2022 presidential bid.

This is is to help him establish new political realignments and associations with other stronger candidates at the national level.

It will also give him sufficient time to attract strong, loyal and sycophantic contestants for the positions of governor, senator, Mp, Women reps and MCAs on the party ticket.

Ruto’s Tangatanga faction is confident of beating the competitors whom they claim have limited resources and agenda for Kenyans.

“Kieleweke’s main agenda was to malign, blackmail and attack Ruto. However, they can’t sustain their activities after their financiers pulled out,” Hon. Kimani Ichung’wa said.

Ichungwa is the Kikuyu constituency and a strong ally of DP William Ruto.

A part from the party leader post reserved for President Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy party leader occupied by Ruto, there are 19 other national positions to be fill and the two factions are already floating the names they prefer should control the party.

As expected the Kieleweke side wants to retain former Rarienda MP Raphael Tuju in the all-powerful position of secretary-general but Tangatanga believes the position should be held by a more vocal and an elected leader.

Tangatanga wants the position to go to either Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria or Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen or one should be the vice to whoever takes the position.

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Nguirici and Soy MP Caleb Kositany are also being featured prominently in the list of those should snatch the seat from Kieleweke’s Tuju.

Ngirici who is also seen as a strong candidate for national women leader told the yesterday that she is still in the race for SG as she has whatever it takes to fill the position.

Currently she chairs the Kenya Parliamntary Women Caucus.

Jubilee structure has three vice-chairs with the proposal that National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale and Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya take up one of them.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny, both in the Kieleweke factions are also being considered for the position. Ruto ally and Kandara MP Alice Wahome’s name has also featured.

Waiguru however says she is focussed on leading the people of Kirinyaga but the position she will go for in the party remains her secret.

Jubilee constitution dectates that the new national officials will be elected by 19 delegates from each of the 47 counties.

In a previous media interview Tuju said the much-anticipated party election will be the “most transparent”  and ”wishes” of all members will be respected.

But Ruto allies added that the DP’s aggressive eight-month strategy aims to plant his political lieutenants in key positions during the March party elections.

The strategy includes taming Kieleweke legislators as they are opposed to the DP’s plitical activities.

Tangatanga has lined up Isiolo Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa for treasurer where she will battle out with Murang’a counterpart Sabina Chege.

For the deputy SG, Tangatanga has Kitui South MP Rachael Nyamai while Nyaribari Chache’s Richard Tongi will be vying for the position from the Kieleweke side.

insider said.

The name of vocal DP critic and Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu is featuring prominently  for the position of deputy treasurer.

He will face off with Narok Woman Representative  Soipan Tuya of the Tangatanga side.

The battle for organizing secretary is expected to be a complete Meru affair with the names of Meru Senator Mithika Linturi and Igembe North MP Maoka Maore being floated.

Linturi is a renown DP sycophant while Maore is a Kieleweke supporter.
