Kenyan international athlete Kenneth Muriithi Njiru on Tuesday evening perished after his vehicle was involved in a crash along Nyeri-Nyahururu highway.
The KDF athlete was headed to Nyahururu Town when his car collided head on with a Toyota land cruiser that wasferrying tourists to Nyeri town.
Three tourists, all Russian nationals sustained injuries and are still admitted at Nyahururu County Referral Hospital.
Njiru represented Kenya in 3000 steeplechase at the 21st Africa senior athletics championships in Asaba, Nigeria in 2018.
Nyandarua North police boss Timon Odingo said that the athlete lost control of his car when he reached Equator area and rammed into the land cruiser.
Investigations have been launched to know the cause of the accident and the body has been moved to Nyahururu County Referral Hospital.
