Reigning Africa champions Al Ahly of Egypt will host South African side Mamelodi Sundowns in the first round of the Caf Champions League quarter-final as Tanzania’s Simba travel to South Africa to face Kaizer Chiefs.

Ahly is on a clear course to win an unprecedented 10th African title, but they will have to wade through a tricky match that pits them against a club owned by the current CAF president Patrice Motsepe.

The tie between the Egyptian giants will elicit the 2001 memories, where both sides met in the final.

The only difference, though, is that this time around, Pitso Mosimane will be sitting on the other side of the bench having joined Ahly from Sundowns last year.

Tanzanian giants Simba – who beat Ahly in the group stages, will tackle Chiefs for the first time in this competition as Algerian MC Alger host Moroccan side Wydad AC while Esperance will travel to Algeria to face CR Belouizdad.

Kenyan fans will be following this match keenly considering that it is this same Belouizdad that knocked Gor Mahia out of this competition.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates will play Raja Casablanca as Pyramids takes on Nigeria’s Enyimba FC in the second tier-CAF Confederation Cup.

The first leg will be staged between May 14 and 15 with the return leg running between May 21, 22, 2021.
