All BBI rallies suspended to mourn departed Mzee Moi

The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce has postponed BBI rallies to allow Kenyans mourn the death of former President Daniel Arap Moi, with new dates set to be announced later.

In a press statement signed by Paul Mwangi, the taskforce joint secretary stated that the rally dates would be announced soon.

“The steering Committee on the implementation of the Building Bridges to a united Kenya task force report wishes to announce the postponement of the scheduled public engagements which had been advertised. This is in honour of the late former president of the Republic of Kenya his Excellency Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi,” a statement signed by joint secretary Paul Mwangi said on Tuesday.

This follows an earlier proclamation by the Senate majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen who alluded that the Tanga tanga brigade had suspended its Nakuru rally scheduled for February 8, 2020.

“Following the passing on of HE President Daniel T. Arap Moi all BBI rallies have been postponed. Consequently the Nakuru rally which was planned for the 8th Feb 2020 has been rescheduled to a future date to be communicated in due course. Thank you!” Wrote Murkomen on Twitter

The former President’s death was announced earlier today by President Uhuru Kenyatta in a proclamation.

“His Legacy endures in Kenya even to this day, encapsulated in the Nyayo Philosophy of ‘Peace, Love and Unity’ that was his mantra throughout his tenure as our Head of State and Government.”

Moi is said to set to be buried on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, with a memorial service set for Tuesday at Kasarani Stadium.
