A sycophantic group of politicians from Western Kenya is calling on President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga to ignore Tangatanga sympathizers who are calling for a review of the BBI report.
They want the two leaders to launch referendum/BBI campaigns.
The group that spoke on Tuesday was responding to calls by Deputy President William Ruto to have sections of the document revisited so that all kenyans can accept it.
Ruto expressed his reservations as he tore into the recommendations of the document during its release at the Bomas of Kenya yesterday. He said the report should be reviewed to reflect the needs of all Kenyans.
The DP said the proposal on the establishment of the office of Ombudsman, which will be appointed by the Executive is a derogation of the independence of the Judiciary.
He argued that the document in its current form is taking the country back into the dark days, where the president used to manipulate judges.
Many Kenyans are still struggling to access justice with a lot of cases gathering dust instead of being handled according the constitution.
Ruto trashed the idea to establish the office of the Ombudsman saying it is a ploy to interfere with the judicial operations and its independence.
The DP also criticised BBI’s proposal to have some political parties appoint IEBC commissioners as unfair and backwards
“How fair will be a league where the referee is appointed by teams and not all the teams? How fair will this league be?” he posed.
Ruto further deconstructed the idea that the BBI report is proving a solution to the winner-takes in elections.
