We recently released the list of the Top 10 Finalists of the Inaugral Angaza Awards which seeks to recognize the women shaping and steering the financial services industry.

Number 10; Pooja Bhatt

Pooja is 32 and is the Co-Founder of two profitable companies: QuantaRisk, an insurance consulting firm and QuantaInsure, an insurance agency that sells a variety of insurance products from multiple companies digitally via mobile application technology. The platform enables customers to buy a policy or make a claim within minutes. As a founding team member, she contributes to business strategy and development, project management and client relations. As a qualified actuary and insurance consultant, Pooja leads technical aspects of client projects. Her clients include businesses with an annual turnover of more than Ksh 20 billion. She also supports clients with insurance training and awareness.

Pooja earned her Fellowship as a fully qualified actuary from the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (UK) in 2014. Pooja holds a BSc degree in Actuarial Science/Finance from Drake University, USA and an MSc degree in Actuarial Management from Cass Business School, UK. 

Prior to her current role, Pooja had extensive experience in the Lloyds insurance market as an Actuarial consultant at Willis Towers Watson (UK), one of the largest global brokers. Towards the end of 2013, she moved to AXA XL Catlin (UK), a top global (re)insurer. Pooja worked across various teams at XL Catlin, including the Group Reserving, Emerging Markets Reinsurance, and Insurance Pricing functions. In the United States, Pooja worked at Ernst & Young and Allianz Life Insurance.

Pooja has been awarded several accolades including being awarded the Stars of the Future (Top 30 under 30) by the Actuarial Post magazine in the U.K. She has also been featured in several business publications as an emerging entrepreneur.

Pooja is passionate about women in business, youth mentoring, and philanthropy. Since returning to Kenya from the United Kingdom in 2018, she has helped promote opportunities for women in business through New Faces New Voices; and has helped raise donations to distribute much-needed items to schools and children’s homes.
