The IEBC has been given 48 hours to revoke the interdiction of Deputy Chief Executive Officer Ruth Kulundu by MPs affiliated with the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition Party.
17 MPs, led by Opiyo Wandayi, have said that Wafula Chebukati, chair of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, and commissioners Boya Molu and Prof. Abdi Guliye have victimised Kulundu because she defended the truth in the presidential election last month.
Speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing induction of Members of National Assembly, the MPs claim IEBC deputy CEO Ruth Kulundu has been interdicted even before she responds to “show cause” notice issued to her over alleged “persistent demeanor and outright misconduct in the past weeks.
In the show cause letter, IEBC Chief Executive Officer Marjan Hussein Marjan accused Kulundu of among other things, convening a commission plenary meeting on August 26th without his approval or delegation.
The meeting was attended by the four commissioners who disputed the presidential results announced by Chairperson Wafula Chebukati.
The Azimio MPs say that Kulundu is being persecuted for standing up for the truth.
With the contracts of Chairperson Wafula Chebukati, Prof. Abdi Guliye, and Boya Molu ending in January, MPs want the three commissioners to be excluded from boundary demarcation.
