Betty Kyallo’s salon funded by ‘sponyos’?

A few days ago, former K24 news anchor Betty Kyalo re-launched her salon Flair By Betty after going through a makeover.

The move sparked all sorts of speculations from her critics with a large section claiming that her business was funded by a sponsor.

During the launch, the bubbly miss Kyalo revealed that at the time she spotted the new premises she did not have enough cash to place as a down payment but was able to raise it after two weeks.

“When my landlord told me that he would rent out this space to me, I cried; not immediately, but later. It was a big deal for me. I had been looking for a new location.

“I felt that we had outgrown the former location and I wanted a different experience for my clients, It was a standalone house. I wanted it. But there were five of us contesting for it. And I didn’t even have the entiremoney,” she said

Days after her launch, media personality Swaleh Mdoe wrote a cryptic post on social media that left many pointing fingers at Kyalo.

“Have you noticed? There is a trend of some SPONSORS opening Beauty Salons/SPAs using female Celebrities as FRONTS and these lasses pretending to OWN them?Sijataja mtu,” wrote Swaleh.

Betty Kyalo has now responded to her critics claiming her business is owned by a sponsor.

In an article on the Daily Nation website published on Sunday, Betty said her business was actually funded by her mother and not sponsors as many claim.

“By the way, you should talk to my mother, she has been my pillar financially and emotionally. One thing that running a business has taught me is that there’s no shame in asking for assistance,” she said

The former news anchor also revealed that re-modeling the whole place cost her well over four million shillings.

“Honestly, I planned to wait but it became overwhelming because I had to pay rent for both spaces. We had to move. I haven’t even had the time to total the expenses but it is more than four million shillings.

“I don’t know how long it will take us to break-even but it was worth it and with the number of clients coming in, maybe, it won’t be long,” she said,
