Bomet Man Drowns While Fetching Water To Brew Chang’aa

Police officers in Konoin, Bomet county are investigating an incident in which a 24-year-old man drowned in a pool while fetching water to brew Chang’aa. Preliminary investigations indicate that the 24-year-old had bruises on the head which police speculated may have been caused by the long tumble down the pool.

Members of the public assisted the police in retrieving the body from the 52-foot deep pool earlier today. Konoin Sub-county Police boss Alex Shikondi in an address said the deceased may have been drunk when he slid into the pool.

According to witnesses, the deceased had attempted to retrieve a rope and a bucket that had slid into the pool. It was then that he tumbled in and drowned.

“We were told that the rope he was using dropped into the pool, he decided to follow it and drowned, it is unfortunate that he was having intentions to use the water to prepare illicit brew” chief David Ngetich was quoted as saying.

The body of the deceased has since been moved to Kapkatet Funeral Home
