Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has opened up on his relationship with the late Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei.
Khalwale said he had known Kenei for more than ten years and the relationship had moved from a professional one to a personal one.
“Many people assume I know Kenei through the DP who is my friend. But I knew Kenei even before Ruto met him. I first met him in 2009 when he was attached to then Cabinet Minister Soita Shitanda. Shitanda loved to interact with his people so on many country side visits, his bodyguards including Kenei would be in my car as we trailed him.
“The relationship over the years became a personal friendship that if I open my phone here, the last text he sent me he told me – Governor I dreamt about you last night. That is why we are very interested in finding out what happened,” Khalwale stated.
The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti is seeking to apprehend Kenei’s killers after ruling the police officer’s death as cold blooded murder.
