Corona virus has hit CGTN Africa Nairobi office– the African bureau of the China Global Television Network (CGTN).
CGTN Africa Nairobi offices have been closed after six employees tested positive for corona-virus.
According to a reliable source, the six are from one department and all the employees were tested and as a precaution they were asked to go home and enroll on home based and health care program.
The office will be closed for the 14 days as the team self-quarantines.
All the operations have been suspended including broadcast and the team is expected to be back at work on July 16, 2020 where they will have to undergo another test as a precaution.
Most of the six positive cases were asymptomatic. The media house is the first to be hit by Covid-19 at a time the infection numbers have been rising dramatically.
On Thursday, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman, confirmed 268 positive corona-virus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tally of confirmed cases in Kenya to 6,951.
The new cases were in 11 counties, with Nairobi leading with 175 cases, Mombasa (28), Busia (18), Kiambu (11), with Kajiado and Migori recording nine cases each. Machakos had six, Narok two, while Makueni and Murang’a recorded a case each.
Three more people have died from Covid-19, bringing total virus deaths in the country to 152.
